Job Description:

The position plays a key role in supporting the management of Wonga Wetlands, irrigated plantations and pump stations, farm assets and Horseshoe Lagoon. Additionally, the position requires provision of assistance in the Wonga Wetlands Aquatic Environmental Education Centre as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Management and maintenance of the farmlands, fire trails, tracks and levee banks, noxious weeds and feral animals.
  • Operation and maintenance of the Waterview and Floodplain irrigation systems.
  • Monitor staff performance and development, motivate staff and develop teamwork
  • Perform staff annual performance appraisals and skill assessments
  • Coordinate and supervise staff, contractors and volunteers to ensure works are carried out to required standard.
  • Perform maintenance work at the wetlands, farmlands and plantations.
  • Routine management and maintenance of the of the ‘wetlands’ system.
  • Oversee and provide maintenance of agisted farmlands and rental properties located at or adjacent to both wastewater treatment plants.
  • Conduct tours, excursions etc of the wetlands/woodlands. Periodically assists in providing additional resources at the Wonga Wetlands Aquatic Environmental Education Centre.
  • Data collection and collation of Council’s weather station and moisture meters located at Waterview and the wetlands.

Job Requirements:

  • Certificate in Plumbing, Irrigation or Horticultural discipline and/or extensive relevant industry experience
  • Class C (standard) Driver’s Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
  • Experience in leading a multidisciplinary team
  • Relevant industry experience in bush regeneration and irrigation matters
