Job Description:

We are providing an exciting opportunity for two recent graduates in Civil Engineering and students finishing their Civil Engineering degree in 2022 looking to develop a career in Local Government Engineering.
Through our Graduate rotation program you will gain experience across a broad range of engineering projects including design, construction and maintenance of Council assets such as roads, bridges, stormwater, buildings, jetties, viewing platforms and swimming pools.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review all design documentation prepared and ensure that it is correct to a high degree of accuracy, suitable for construction and in accordance with all relevant standards and legislation and complies with all the requirements of the Design Division’s Quality Management System
    (QMS).
  • Scope, investigate, define and prepare project plans for designs and investigations.
  • Prepare comprehensive consultant briefs for designs and investigations.
  • Engage and manage consultant to achieve design objectives within budget expectations.
  • Preparation of design plans, specifications and estimates for a range of design projects.
  • Monitor project plans to ensure objectives are being satisfied and provide timely advice to the Manager on any anticipated delays affecting project commitments.
  • Undertake technical investigations and prepare reports on a range of design projects.
  • Investigate, document and prepare applications for statutory approvals.
  • Effectively liaise with Public Utilities and other Authorities, user groups and Council staff regarding engineering matters.

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience applying relevant legislative, statutory and industry standards.
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities simultaneously, meet strict deadlines and deliver identified outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate, analyse and resolve difficult problems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or near completion.
  • Demonstrated interest in civil engineering design.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and work effectively within a changing work environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Quality and Work Health and Safety principles.
