Job Description:
We are providing an exciting opportunity for two recent graduates in Civil Engineering and students finishing their Civil Engineering degree in 2022 looking to develop a career in Local Government Engineering.
Through our Graduate rotation program you will gain experience across a broad range of engineering projects including design, construction and maintenance of Council assets such as roads, bridges, stormwater, buildings, jetties, viewing platforms and swimming pools.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review all design documentation prepared and ensure that it is correct to a high degree of accuracy, suitable for construction and in accordance with all relevant standards and legislation and complies with all the requirements of the Design Division’s Quality Management System
(QMS). - Scope, investigate, define and prepare project plans for designs and investigations.
- Prepare comprehensive consultant briefs for designs and investigations.
- Engage and manage consultant to achieve design objectives within budget expectations.
- Preparation of design plans, specifications and estimates for a range of design projects.
- Monitor project plans to ensure objectives are being satisfied and provide timely advice to the Manager on any anticipated delays affecting project commitments.
- Undertake technical investigations and prepare reports on a range of design projects.
- Investigate, document and prepare applications for statutory approvals.
- Effectively liaise with Public Utilities and other Authorities, user groups and Council staff regarding engineering matters.
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience applying relevant legislative, statutory and industry standards.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities simultaneously, meet strict deadlines and deliver identified outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate, analyse and resolve difficult problems.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or near completion.
- Demonstrated interest in civil engineering design.
- Demonstrated understanding of project management.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt and work effectively within a changing work environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of Quality and Work Health and Safety principles.
