Job Description:

We are providing an exciting opportunity for two recent graduates in Civil Engineering and students finishing their Civil Engineering degree in 2022 looking to develop a career in Local Government Engineering.
Through our Graduate rotation program you will gain experience across a broad range of engineering projects including design, construction and maintenance of Council assets such as roads, bridges, stormwater, buildings, jetties, viewing platforms and swimming pools.

Job Responsibilities:

Review all design documentation prepared and ensure that it is correct to a high degree of accuracy, suitable for construction and in accordance with all relevant standards and legislation and complies with all the requirements of the Design Division’s Quality Management System
(QMS).
Scope, investigate, define and prepare project plans for designs and investigations.
Prepare comprehensive consultant briefs for designs and investigations.
Engage and manage consultant to achieve design objectives within budget expectations.
Preparation of design plans, specifications and estimates for a range of design projects.
Monitor project plans to ensure objectives are being satisfied and provide timely advice to the Manager on any anticipated delays affecting project commitments.
Undertake technical investigations and prepare reports on a range of design projects.
Investigate, document and prepare applications for statutory approvals.
Effectively liaise with Public Utilities and other Authorities, user groups and Council staff regarding engineering matters.

Job Requirements:

Demonstrated experience applying relevant legislative, statutory and industry standards.
Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities simultaneously, meet strict deadlines and deliver identified outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to investigate, analyse and resolve difficult problems.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or near completion.
Demonstrated interest in civil engineering design.
Demonstrated understanding of project management.
Demonstrated ability to adapt and work effectively within a changing work environment.
Demonstrated understanding of Quality and Work Health and Safety principles.
