Job Description:

This position provides strategic guidance and technical advice on tree management and assessment processes including risk assessment, tree identification, pest and disease identification and planting. This is achieved through the appropriate design and implementation of proactive, reactive and emergency tree risk assessment programs. The role will ensure risk exposure is minimised through implementing good practice tree management practices across the region, including following up and monitoring of trees with pest, disease or other health and structure concerns. Activities will be carried out in a manner that treats all internal and external customers with courtesy, empathy, understanding and equity.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma in Arboriculture – AQF 5 and Quantified Tree Risk Assessment Certification (ISA).
  • Demonstrated understanding of wildlife habitat and conservation values, ecology and habitat corridors.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce technical briefs and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology as required to capture, locate, name and map tree assets in an efficient and cost effective manner including efficient management of scheduled and unscheduled works and customer requests.
  • Current unrestricted Queensland “C” class manual licence (essential).
  • Construction Safety (White Card) (30215 QLD – Course in General Safety Induction for the Construction Industry). (essential).
  • First Aid/CPR/Emergency Life Support Certificate.
  • Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) certified under the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Part 3, 2016).

Qualification & Experience:

  • Extensive experience working as an arborist in a local government / public sector environment undertaking arboriculture assessment of a more complex nature.
  • Experience in project supervision and contract management of arboriculture works within the public realm.
  • Proven experience in the implementation and monitoring of programs and systems relevant to quality tree management processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with experience in providing technical advice to senior level stakeholders on tree management issues.
