Job Description:

This role would support the Financial Reporting Team in the delivery of Treasury, Taxation and Finance services. This position plays a key role in the Executive Office and will be focused on the needs and aspirations of the Townsville community and reshaping how we deliver services to maximise value.

Job Requirements:

  • The accurate and timely processing of daily workflows and where necessary investigating and resolving issues within delegated authority, or escalating to the appropriate supervisor with recommended resolutions;
  • Collating information, data and/or background details and preparing reports, journals, documents or presentations which factually respond to the issue at hand;
  • Preparing correspondence as required which reflects the section policy or procedure;
  • Integrating with other teams on tasks that impact on other areas of Council in an open and transparent manner, and;
  • Accurately recording all decisions, recommendations and or resolutions in the appropriate system and ensuring all record keeping standards are met.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a Finance Officer role, providing assistance to a multi-disciplinary team.
  • The ability to collaborate with and educate, advise, influence, guide and coach stakeholders, and as a partner embed best practice principles and share responsibility for the delivery of quality accounting and financial outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated by verbal and written evidence.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of the Microsoft suite of products, particularly Excel.
  • Conduct key finance related tasks as directed under either the finance business partner arrangement for the host section to which the role has been deployed or the accounting and budget team.
  • Attending to finance related enquiries resolving issues which may require investigation and recording details as per section requirements;
  • Utilising and manipulating council systems to obtain information, data and or background to collate factual information pertaining to the work or an enquiry;
  • Investigating matters as tasked or directed, collating information and making recommendations on resolution;
