Job Description:

Are you a self-motivated individual with strong leadership and innovation skills? Council is looking for a qualified and experienced engineering professional to join our Subdivision and Development Certification team. This leadership role contributes to Group business objectives, establish and update engineering policies and practices, provide strategic input on engineering matters relating to the delivery of new development and precinct planning and support and coordinate the delivery of day to day operation of the team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert engineering input into greenfield areas and re-development of urban precinct development implementation plan;
  • Represent the Group on strategic engineering matters impacting the delivery of development across release areas;
  • Provide strategic engineering input on Planning Proposals, Contribution Plans and Voluntary Planning Agreements;
  • Provide expert technical engineering input, reports and presentation of evidence as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court for DAs;
  • Efficiently coordinate subdivision Development Application (DAs) allocation, assessment and determination processes to ensure the subdivision and development of land is carried out in accordance with relevant legislation, all relevant constraints such as bushfire, biodiversity, contamination, heritage, flooding, landslide risk and the like are adequately addressed;
  • Supervise, support and coordinate workload of professional staff delivering technical engineering and planning services for subdivision development applications;
  • Establish and update engineering policies and practices to achieve significant improvement in the delivery of Shire’s public infrastructure realm through new development;
  • Peer review assessments relating to subdivision DAs, Subdivision Works Certificates, Roads Act & Local Government Act approvals;

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in DAs and land use planning at Local Government level;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of all aspects of civil engineering design, construction, project management, land development, communication, problem and conflict solving, strategic analysis and interpretation, research and documentation, staff supervision and mentoring;
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering;
  • Post Graduate qualifications in Town Planning or a related field such as Economics, Environmental Science or Geography is preferable;
  • 10 years post qualification experience in development engineering;
  • NSW General Construction Induction (White Card);
  • Self-motivated with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage conflicting demands in a high pressure deadline-driven environment;
  • Current Class C Motor Vehicle Licence.
