Job Description:

  • To create a socially sustainable community through the application of social justice and community development principles which actively encourage the participation of all residents in community life.
  • To work collaboratively with all sections of Council and the community to ensure the provision and facilitation of positive strategies and services that enhance the lives of residents.
  • Deliver annual measurable outcomes in the human services area that support Council’s Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework

Job Responsibilities:

  • Community needs documented in the Community Strategic Plan and associated plans and reported to
    Council on a regular basis
  • Policies developed and implemented ensuring integration of all residents into the life of the
  • Positive feedback from community organisations and government departments received on
    appropriateness of strategies developed
  • Effective networking of services enabling coordinated seamless delivery of services is provided
  • Residents develop capacity to lead and run their own services and networks
  • Concerns raised with all spheres of government where services resourcing and funding are required Positive feedback received on resourcing and effectiveness of community networks

Qualification & Experience:

  • At least three years experience in community services, preferably with skills in community development,
    project management and/or community planning processes
  • Experience in local government
  • Experience in project and event management
  • Experience and skills in budget control
