Job Description:
This program has been established to support the recruitment and development of school leavers within a chosen technical field within the Parks and Gardens Branch at Sunshine Coast Council.
Job Responsibilities:
- Horticulture – General garden duties such as mulching, pruning, planting, rubbish collection
- Arboriculture – General labouring duties, pruning techniques, general tree knowledge, tree identification
- Turf and Irrigation – Soil testing, estimates, integrated pest management
- Nursery Operations – Soil Management, seedling control, planting procedures, use of fertilizers and pest control
- Infrastructure Maintenance – Infrastructure maintenance and routine inspections
Job Requirements:
- Administration General office duties such as organisational skills, time management, taking meeting minutes and working within Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
- Placement will be a period of 5 days
- Students can choose 2 x fields to gain work experience within the 5 day period
- Correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn during the period of the program – this will be provided
- Students need to be covered for public liability and personal accident insurance by a recognised educational institution
