Job Description:

The role of Program Coordinator will undertake a variety of tasks associated with the construction and maintenance of civil infrastructure within the Works branch and provide technical assistance as required within the Operations Department. The Program Coordinator will be required to promote and facilitate tasks such as the development and implementation of construction management plans in the areas of Work Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, Traffic Management and Environmental Practices

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with implementing and maintaining a Maintenance Management System for Council infrastructure.
  • To manage, perform routine inspections on the Main Roads and Council Road networks maintaining backlogs as per requirements of RMPC.
  • Actively participate in a team-oriented work environment and work co-operatively with all Council personnel. Build effective relationships and establish positive working partnerships with staff, managers, directors and internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for Council.
  • To assist the Works Manager and the Overseer as required to deliver the capital and operational works programs using council field services.
  • To facilitate, develop and implement management plans associated with Council’s Quality Assurance, Work Healthand Safety, Traffic Management and Environmental practices.
  • To prepare plans and estimates for projects and to prepare reports and correspondence as required.
  • To assist with updating and maintaining Council’s Assets Register and record.
  • To assist with the implementation and improvement of Council’s WHS Management System.

Job Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of the statutory requirements relevant to construction and maintenance work in particular the Work Health and Safety Act, Environment Protection Act & the MUTCD
  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and standards associated with the management of quality systems, work health and safety, traffic management & environmental in regard to the maintenance & construction of civil infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of computer-based road maintenance management systems and ability to utilise and provide various reports as required within the operations department
  • Sound knowledge of TMR road construction and maintenance contracts and relevant specifications
  • Sound knowledge of road survey and design practices and sound knowledge of road construction and maintenance practices

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience with the Department of Transport & Main Roads (TMR) contracts and in particular the Road Maintenance Performance Contract (RMPC) and practices
  • Experience implementing and maintaining road maintenance management systems
  • Experience in civil engineering survey and design (roads and drainage)
