Job Description:

Your role is responsible of the overall supervision and coordination of Civil Operations  staff and contractors associated with the construction, maintenance and operation of roads within the Singleton Local Government Area.

The Coordinator Civil Operations oversees operations and the execution of the various programs, projects and contracts. The incumbent also provides professional, technical and administrative services to the Infrastructure Services team and assists supervisors in management, support and performance development of staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support, coach and provide specialist technical advice to staff undertaking maintenance and capital work in accordance with the annual capital works budget and maintenance program.
  • Strategise, coordinate, program and lead the day to day operations of the Civil Operations area under broad guidelines, within Council policies and to a defined cost and quality standard.
  • Manage and co-ordinate the Civil Maintenance and Construction teams to ensure the provision of professional, cost effective and timely works and services, that support Council’s strategic objectives.
  • Implement a range of people-centred plans and actions that support organisational development, employee engagement, leadership, performance and change.

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in applying WHS legislation and regulation in a supervisory role.
  • Substantial experience and demonstrated ability to lead, coach and support staff, including other staff in leadership positions, to achieve work targets and objectives effectively and efficiently.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Civil Engineering, Project Management or related field) or extensive contemporary practical experience in managing civil capital and maintenance programmes.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering operational works on time, within budget and to quality standards across multiple teams.
  • Proven ability to identify, collect and analyse information and produce meaningful, business-focused reports for sound decision making.
  • Demonstrated substantial ability to identify and contribute to process improvement at an operational and strategic level.
  • Proven ability to communicate, consult and negotiate with industry bodies and associations effectively and independently
