Job Description:

Council is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to provide advanced end to end project management, including leadership of key projects through detailed design development and construction management phases.

This position is responsible for leading Council’s involvement in major external and capital projects delivered within the municipality, and other projects as required

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure engineering approvals and construction activities are carried out efficiently, to a high level, in a timely manner.
  • Effectively plan for, manage and deliver the capital works program on time and to budget.
  • Oversee the preparation of works and services specifications, and the evaluation of submissions and public tenders.
  • Lead negotiations with contractors in order to resolve complex design and construction issues.
  • Required to initiate, develop and manage projects and programs to realise improved urban environments and increased liveability.
  • Resolve contractor and/or customer complaints/requests in a timely manner
  • Manage the external and capital works program within Council’s processes, adopted plans and strategies through the Project Management Framework.
  • Coordinate the preparation of plans and subsequent design to guide investment for the major projects.
  • Provide advice on State and other Government policies or legislation concerning major projects related issues and make detailed recommendations.

Job Requirements:

  • Extensive and diverse contract management experience;
  • Proven competency in budget and financial management; and
  • A systematic approach to Occupational Health & Safety and risk management.
