Job Description:

We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated, flexible and agile in service delivery with demonstrated ability to support families from the perinatal period to school age, fostering partnerships that promote optimal health and wellbeing. The successful candidates will have a focused approach to support physical, emotional and social factors affecting families in contemporary communities with demonstrated experience implementing innovative strategies to support engagement. The service provides opportunity to meet families where they are offering care in people homes, at MCH centers, local community centers and through outreach services. Job Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of the specific needs of families from cultural and linguistic diverse backgrounds (CALD) including Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander children
  • Knowledge and skills relevant to the provision of the Victorian Local Government Maternal and Child Health service.
  • Ability to organise, prepare for and deliver group programs for parents with infants
  • Well-developed knowledge and understanding regarding women’s health issues and in particular, post natal depression and ability to use Edinburgh Post Natal Depression scale
  • Provide an innovative approach to flexible service delivery that will encourage access and participation for all families in the community

Job Requirements:

  • Current nurse and midwife registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Post graduate Qualifications in Family, Child and Community Health or equivalent (as defined by AHPRA)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability engage with diverse communities;
  • Demonstrated understanding of Child and Family Violence Information Sharing Schemes and risk Assessment Frameworks, together with Child Safe Standards;
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Working with Children Chec
  • Experience in facilitating community education/health promotion programs for infants, young children and their families as per program standards
