Job Description:
Our Instrument Technicians contribute to the successful development and operation of the National Sea Simulator though the maintenance and calibration of the suite of instruments and lighting systems that are currently installed throughout the facility. In this role, you will assist the Instrument and Controls Technician in maintaining a database of all instruments and lighting assets held within the National Sea Simulator, including maintenance and calibration details. You will contribute to research outcomes through applying knowledge of instrumentation in the development of novel experimental aquarium systems.
Job Requirements:
- Proven ability to solve complex technical problems associated with control instrumentation, related hardware and electronic systems.
- Good interpersonal skills and the proven ability to operate effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary
team as well as work independently. - Electrical Trade Qualification.
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate/Low Voltage Rescue
Qualification & Experience:
- PLC, SCADA, DCS experience.
- Knowledge of and experience working with LED lighting systems and associated communications.
- Knowledge of and experience working with pumps, fluid control valves and associated hydraulic control and monitoring systems.
- Advanced computer skills, in particular experience using the Microsoft Office suite.
- Qualifications in Electronics/Communications or relevant equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and calibrating instruments associated with control systems.
