As Council’s Senior Building Surveyor (Fire Safety) you will be responsible for coordinating and leading the efficient and effective delivery of Council’s Fire Safety Program (FSP). This role will see you act as the subject matter expert in Fire Safety and provide fire safety related planning and building regulation advice to internal stakeholders, the building development industry, the community and other Government agencies. You will undertake routinely research and provide advice on changing legislation and industry best practice within the fire safety space and drive a continuous improvement approach to Council’s Fire Safety Program. You will provide assistance to the Building Assessment team with respect to building assessment and building certification services and provide mentoring and technical advice to the Building and Development team on fire safety related matters.
- You will have tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or a related discipline, coupled with extensive industry experience in building assessment and professional fire safety.
- To be successful in this role, you will also require contemporary industry knowledge and demonstrated experience in Building Surveying, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Government Act, Building Code of Australia and associated statutory legislation.
- Having a comprehensive understanding of Class 2-9 structures under the Building Code of Australia, working knowledge of Ordinance 70 and 71 and all fire safety measures contained within Australia will see you succeed in this role.
