Job Description:
Delivers workplace health, safety & wellbeing governance by providing plans, strategies and initiatives,
advice, support information and tools to ensure council complies with Work Health and Safety and Workers
compensation legislation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and continuously improve Council’s work health safety & wellbeing management system (HSWMS).
- Provide leadership, direction and development opportunities to your team, mentoring and enabling key stakeholders to take
ownership of safety in their areas. - Utilise your demonstrated experience and play a key role in driving strategic change across health, safety and wellness
initiatives. - Use your customer focused approach and ‘can-do attitude’ to engage and influence key stakeholders to drive a positive work
health safety and wellebing culture. - Provide leadership and direction for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of our HSWMS that
ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and is aligned with Council’s strategies, initiatives and goals. - Ensure effective incident investigation and root cause analysis is conducted.
- Ensure a work health, safety & wellbeing consultation framework is in place that encourages leadership, employee participation and helps develop and implement Council’s HS&W Framework.
Job Requirements:
- You will be an experienced professional who thrives under pressure, enjoys managing competing priorities and has the ability to exercise a flexible approach to changing parameters. Relevant tertiary qualifications in work health and safety, or a related relevant field, or significant experience in a similar role
- Detailed knowledge of current Work Health & Safety and Worker’s Compensation and Rehabilitation legislation, regulations, codes, standards and guidelines.
- Accredited WHS Auditor qualification.
- ICAM or similar lead investigator training.
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment.
- Certificate IV Project Management (highly desirable)
- Ability to lead and facilitate WHS strategic planning, change management and governance.
- Sound working knowledge in leading investigations, audits, policy development, systems management and strategy objectives.
- Strong project management and reporting skills
Knowledge of National Self Insurer WHS Audit Tool (highly desirable) - Knowledge of design thinking and agile methodologies (highly desirable)
- Ability to apply design thinking and agile methodologies, including process mapping in finding new and innovative solutions to HSW challenges.
