Job Description:

The Kalgoorlie Golf Course are currently seeking an experienced part-time Cook. The applicant must be enthusiastic and energetic, be an excellent communicator and passionate about delivering exceptional dining experiences.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of all kitchen staff including start & end of day procedures, instruction and training in the preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation etc of food;
  • Create a menu that meets quality standards, and is cost effective. Ensure the use of local produce where possible; consider seasonal produce, and cater to the current clientele as well as prospective clientele;
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels, labour costs and estimate of food required; Meet with Sales Representatives to negotiate prices and order supplies;
  • Monitor Cost of Food Budget and maintain targets;
  • Coordinate and be available for all catering aspects for functions including ordering of all ingredients and menu planning;
  • Maintain equipment, work areas and general supplies to ensure conformance to established health and safety standards.
  • Monitor and enforce sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations;
  • Other accountabilities as directed by the Events Food and Beverage Coordinator and/or the Golf Course Coordinator

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent hygiene standards and working knowledge of occupational health and safety standards;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work to deadlines with excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise effectively and courteously with internal and external customers;
  • Strong team player with the ability to work autonomously with initiative, and the ability to solve problems and make decisions;
  • Senior First Aid Certificate;
  • Current satisfactory National Police Clearance;
  • Current WA “C” Class driver’s licence

Qualification & Experience:

  • Qualification relevant to Hospitality, Commercial Cooking, Food Handling and/or Menu Planning
  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience working as a Cook or Chef;
  • Previous experience in the preparation of menus and ordering of stock;
