Job Description:

The Inner West is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to join Council’s leadership team as Strategic and Corporate Communications Manager.
In this critical role, you will lead the strategic development, planning and implementation of Council’s internal and external communications program, ensuring activities are appropriately aligned with Council’s Strategic Plan.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Protecting and advancing the reputation of Council via proactive communication and expert issues management
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships and advocates amongst key stakeholders including local businesses, community, peak bodies and media
  • Providing the elected Council high level strategic, policy and media advice
  • Advancing Council’s content strategy ensuring messages are consistent, timely and appropriate for Council’s various audiences
  • Building and strengthening Council’s digital and internal communication function and identifying opportunities to enable an agile and innovative culture.

Job Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the role, or demonstrable equivalent industry experience as a senior leader
  • Current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence

Qualification & Experience:

  • Significant experience in strategic communication, public affairs and/or media in a large organisation
  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering successful integrated corporate communication and advocacy strategies and leading teams to achieve organisational goals
  • Extensive experience in issues management with a proven ability to navigate complex and/or sensitive issues as well as build and maintain relationships and influence stakeholders
