Job Description:

The Audit and Risk Committee is an advisory committee that provides Council with independent assurance and assistance in the areas of financial reporting, audit, internal control effectiveness, risk management and regulatory compliance. This oversight mechanism also serves to provide confidence in the integrity of these practices. Committee membership comprises two Councillors plus three independent members, one of whom is appointed by Council as the Chair of the Committee. Independent members of the committee must be members of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants and/or the Institute of Internal Auditors, having experience in financial management and risk, public sector management and governance experience.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Substantial experience in leading internal audit and risk in a complex regulatory environment
  • Substantial experience in a similar Audit Committee / Board Position
  • Relevant qualifications and experience
  • Applied understanding of contemporary governance and compliance challenges facing Local Government in Victoria
