Job Description:

The Engagement and Delivery Division (the Division) is responsible for the frontline delivery of the department’s employment programs and has strong working relationships with providers, employers, industry associations, and key Commonwealth, state/territory and local governments. The Division works closely with policy areas and employment services providers to implement the department’s range of services and initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Proactively contribute to the local leadership team, forward planning, corporate and governance activities.
  • Promote and manage strategic relationships and engagement with external stakeholders including government departments, employers, industry, peak organisations and contracted service providers to meet employer needs and supporting people into sustainable employment.
  • Provide support to our Ministers and Executive, as required.
  • Proactively monitor performance, quality and risk activities of contracted service providers, to ensure they meet expectations and deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Lead a team to deliver a range of Australian Government employment services programs in Victoria through the effective management of contracted employment services providers.
  • Provide leadership that fosters a collaborative team-based environment that actively promotes a culture of leadership at all levels.
  • Contribute to policy and program development and participate in reviews of programs and their implementation.
  • Respond flexibly to changing needs and priorities and assisting staff to do the same.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong corporate citizenship ethos with a willingness to contribute to the governance and culture of the Victorian State Office and the department more broadly.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a culture of growth mindset, innovation, high performance and build a psychologically safe workplace.
  • 2-3 years demonstrated experience in a people leadership / team leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead staff in an evolving business environment and to build team capabilities to meet current and future business needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and to work across boundaries to achieve positive outcomes. demonstrated ability to manage a range of strategic and operational issues simultaneously and resolve complex and sensitive issues effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to provide clear and accurate advice to stakeholders including employers, contracted service providers, staff, colleagues and senior executives.
  • Ability to demonstrate resilience, remain positive and respond to pressure in a controlled manner.
