Job Description:

Your day-to-day role as a Senior Compliance Officer will be responsible for conducting investigations into potential non-compliance relating to various national environmental laws including:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out duties as an authorised officer such as entering premises to assess compliance, requiring action to reduce environmental impacts, documenting or seizing evidence, conducting interviews and requiring information and records
  • Identifying and procuring external expertise to inform investigations
  • Conducting and managing investigations into non-compliance with legislation
  • Conducting research and desktop analysis of complex data
  • Conducting field operations, including liaising with areas of the department, relevant external enforcement and regulatory agencies and industry bodies, and with regulated entities across Australia to deliver compliance outcomes
  • Preparing briefs and reporting to managers on the status, and recommendations of investigations
  • Collaborating with business areas across the agency in responding to illegal activity and to obtain or provide advice about the treatment of alleged actions
  • Engaging with other agencies to achieve collaborative operational outcomes
  • Thinking outside the box to deal with case specific challenges
