Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to support Council by undertaking a broad range of maintenance in horticulture, landscape, arboriculture, mowing, playgrounds, public amenities, litter collection, infrastructure and plant operation. You will perform your duties as part of a team that is responsible for the upkeep and presentation of Council’s parks, reserves and urban streetscapes in accordance to Council’s priorities and standards.

Job Responsibilities:

Conduct routine visual inspections of parks assets to identify visible hazards and existing and/or potential risks.
Follow Council Policy, Corporate Standards, procedures, instructions and report non-compliance to Team Leader.
Action customer service requests; and report issues of concern to Team Leader.
Ensure plant and equipment is maintained, serviced and returned to storage area after use.
Ensure that cargo and loads are securely restrained prior to transporting.
Work in a safe manner in or near roadways.
Carry out labouring, maintenance activities, mowing and cleaning tasks to deliver quality outcomes consistent with Council’s standards and industry best practice.
Carry out daily pre-start checks.
Erect road signage for construction or maintenance work ensuring compliance requirements are met.
Work with chemicals, fuel and oil products and take immediate action if spill occurs.
Undertake safe operations of small plant and equipment including powered and non-powered hand tools, pole
saws and chainsaw.

Job Requirements:

Experience and competency operating under a current Medium Rigid (MR) licence
Strong work ethic
Be energetic and enjoy working in the great outdoors
Desire to contribute to the appeal and maintenance of the region we live in
Be reliable
Labouring skills to carry out maintenance activities daily
Be able to work independently and as part of a team
Enjoy a physical, hands on job
An interest in gardening and horticulture
Enjoy a wide variety of tasks
