Job Description:

This role plays an important part in providing expertise and strong leadership to support and grow our people whilst building a constructive workplace culture which promotes learning, teamwork and the delivery of a positive customer experience.  As a valued member of the Planning and Development portfolio leadership team, your passion, care and collaborative leadership style will contribute to the delivery of development assessment outcomes in line with the Planning Development and Infrastructure Act.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the achievement of outcomes and service levels, as specified in the legislation, Planning and Development Portfolio Business Plan and Customer Service Protocols.
  • Provide leadership and support in continuous improvement outcomes in the Business Unit and across the Planning and Development Portfolio.
  • Lead the team to ensure the provision of high-quality pre-lodgement advice, information  services, and the accurate and timely processing of applications in accordance with regulations under the Development Act or Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act.
  • Ensure that any legislative changes are communicated effectively to the team and work practices are changed accordingly.
  • Provide direction, specialist advice and assistance to team members as a mentor in order to develop their professional skills.
  • Manage high levels of staff performance.

Job Requirements:

  • Energy and initiative, matched by high level prompt and timely communication to support the delivery of great people outcomes and a great customer experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning.
  • Planning Level 1 accreditation under the Planning Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.
  • A balanced people and technical values-based leadership approach, with a strong focus on building a culture of achievement, collaboration, care and support.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a high-volume customer facing team, ensuring ongoing professional development to inspire high performance.
  • Ability to respond to a changing environment and lead others through change.
  • Well-developed time management, creative problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Outstanding collaborative leadership capabilities, including high level ability to lead, motivate and mentor teams.
