Job Description:

Council is currently seeking a Safety and Risk Advisor to assist in the ongoing development of Council’s Enterprise Risk Framework and Council’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) Management Systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with all levels or the organisation including senior staff, managers and workers to provide specialist advice and guidance in the interpretation of applicable risk and safety legislation, policies and procedures and complete audits and other statistical reports as required;
  • Coordinate, develop and deliver safety and risk management training where required; and
  • Assist to develop, implement, manage and review Council’s risk and safety management system, policies, procedures and processes within Council;
  • Undertake risk and safety inspections, hazard identification, investigations and audits to determine corrective actions, provide recommendations for proactive decision-making and implementation of changes; and
  • Build positive working relationships, strengthen business partnering and ensure excellent internal customer service for risk, safety, workers compensation and general insurance across all business units of Council.

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge and understanding of work health and safety legislation, codes of practices, standards and guidance material and the proven ability to interpret and apply to work health and safety systems;
  • Degree qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Business, Commerce or related discipline;
  • Demonstrated experience (minimum of 2 years) in a similar role involving providing advice on legislation, regulations, standards and related management systems and programs across all organisational levels;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining corporate wide Risk and Safety Management Systems including experience in implementing behavioural risk and safety programs and initiatives; and
  • Current Class C driver’s licence.
