We are currently seeking a Strategic Advocacy & Engagement Advisor to join our progressive team on Casual Basis

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide Maternal & Child Health activities as outlined in the MCH Service Guidelines 2011,
  • Maternal and Child Health Service: Practice Guidelines 2009 and Maternal and Child Health Service Program Standards 2009.
  • Make contact and offer an initial home visit to all families, upon receipt of birth notifications.
  • Monitor and promote the health, growth and development of young children, which includes physical, social, emotional and intellectual development through centre consultations and home visits.
  • Provide support, guidance information, intervention on child growth development, health and hygiene, nutrition, parenting and safety through individual and group consultancy discussion.
  • Fulfil the requirements and targets set by the State Government related to child health Key Age and Stage consultations.
  • Provide up to date, timely and relevant information, support, advice and appropriate referrals on issues relating to women’s health, including antenatal and postnatal care.
  • Provide a Maternal and Child Health service that meets local goals and priorities defined in the Maternal and Child Health strategic plan.
  • Council officers to communicate appropriate and positive information to the general public, other professionals and community services/organisations regarding Maternal and Child Health Services.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills necessary to maintain professional competency standards of M&CH nursing practice
  • Knowledge of current Maternal and Child Health evidence-based practices and policies.
  • Knowledge of current immunisation requirements for children 0-6 years.
  • Ability to assess the health status of the child and family.
  • Highly developed assessment and referral skills and the ability to make appropriate referrals to early intervention services for children and relevant support services.
