Job Description:

We have an opportunity for a dedicated individual to provide input into BVSC operations and planning assessment regarding protection and promotion of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage and facilitate the implementation of adopted priorities of the Shire’s local Aboriginal community.

As the Aboriginal Planning Officer, you will provide advice regarding the potential impacts of Development Applications and Council works on local Aboriginal Cultural Heritage and proactively increase cultural awareness through the delivery and development of training programs for the organisation. You will assist BVSC and Aboriginal Lands Councils to develop, review and implement the Memorandum of Understanding as well as provide input into the development of relevant BVSC policies and processes.

Job Requirements:

  • High level written, and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of Aboriginal culture of the region.
  • Demonstrated skills in community development, engagement and consultation.
  • Knowledge and ability in the use of Microsoft software packages, in particular Word and the production of reports and correspondence associated with the role.
