Job Description:

The Waste Management Coordinator is a pivotal role in ensuring high quality, reliable and sustainable services are provided to meet the needs of a growing regional city.  This is your opportunity to join with Council to provide the waste services needed now and into the future. This position requires degree qualifications or equivalent in a relevant discipline, e.g. Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, minimum five years experience in the waste industry and experience in the operation of an EPA licensed facility.

Job Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of the provision of a waste collection service and rural transfer station operations.
  • Demonstrated ability in supervising, motivating and leading waste staff to achieve required goals.
  • Superior communication and conflict resolution capabilities
  • Class C Drivers licence
  • Degree qualifications in a relevant discipline, e.g., Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering
  • Working knowledge of POEO legislation
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of WHS and EEO
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft software
  • Initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several projects at one time, and to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Asbestos identification and management training.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Waste and Recycling Contract Management experience
  • Experience in using accounting, mapping and weigh bridge software
  • Experience in managing on-going operations of landfills
  • Previous experience in the operation of an EPA licenced facility
  • Minimum five years relevant experience in waste industry
