Job Description:

Bring your specialized knowledge of purchasing, tendering and contract supervision and join the Banyule Finance and Procurement Team.

We have an opportunity for a Procurement and Contracts Officer to ensure Council’s procurement arrangements are administrated consistent with policies, procedures, legislation and best practice

Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating tasks required to award a contract under a public tender process
  • Managing contract administration
  • Maintaining a preferred supplier list quarterly for Business Units’ reference
  • Supervising the Purchasing Officer
  • Exploring opportunities for collaborative procurement via other Local Government opportunities
  • Assisting in the delivery and maintenance of a Sustainable Procurement Framework across Council
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and registered documents
  • Delivering training and guidance to officers on their responsibilities when undertaking procurement activities

Job Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or accounting and or significant experience in a tendering/contract management role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the public tendering process and evaluation, contract management and administration
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation such as Local Government Act (2020)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in project management

Qualification & Experience:

  • Proficient knowledge and experience in the principles and application of sustainable procurement practices
  • Knowledge and experience with procurement systems and modules including purchasing, contracts and finance
  • Experience in staff supervision is desirable
