Job Description:

Due to continued growth we are seeking Senior Combat Systems Engineers to join our Engineering team by providing key expertise in platform integration of the Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) Combat System (CS).
The successful candidates will have significant experience within the defence industry, and preferably within the shipbuilding sector with knowledge of Combat System integration. As part of a multi-discipline engineering team focused on delivering complex projects, it is expected that they work with minimal supervision to complete tasks independently on time and within budget.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Development of new processes and tools;
  • Preparation, review and approval of engineering documentation such as specifications, sketches, test procedures and engineering reports;
  • Fostering/maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure good outcomes for the CCSM and enterprise.
  • Provision of technical advice internally and to the customer;
  • Design, review and approve the platform integration for new combat systems, system redesign and/or sub-system/component design;
  • System and equipment condition and defect assessment, development of remediation work scope, root cause analysis, and engineering assessments;
  • Involvement in ASC system process development and continuous improvement;
  • Review and management of project risks and opportunities;

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are an essential requirement for this role, as is sound stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Understanding of the CCSM Submarine certification basis, design requirements, and operation and maintenance needs of the platform to support the Collins Class Submarine;
  • Australian Defence Security Clearance and eligibility to access protected US Defence Technology via ITAR;
  • Minimum tertiary qualifications and professional development sufficient to attain recognition as Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), Chartered Engineer (CEng) Engineering Council UK for Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA)/Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST, or Chartered Engineering Technologist (CEngT) with Institute of Engineers Australia (IEAUST), or equivalent in a relevant engineering stream (Objective Quality Evidence to be provided to substantiate equivalence);
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience in management of design/maintenance within a quality framework, specifically, acting in a senior combat system engineering role;
  • Principles of Defence Seaworthiness and ASC engineering processes are highly regarded.
  • Submarine maintenance management and / or operation of submarine systems.
