Job Description:

The NFSA is looking for a highly motivated professional to manage a team responsible for providing access to the NFSA’s collection. The successful applicant requires an in-depth knowledge of, and extensive experience, managing the provision of audio visual and related materials in a cultural setting as well as experience in applying Australian copyright law, coupled with strong client service, communication skills and commitment to producing quality outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Development and application of access related policies and procedures in response to changing expectations of NFSA client groups including the production and recording sectors, cultural institutions and academic researchers.
  • Manage team workflows and develop procedures and policies that improve access outcomes and increase exposure of the NFSA collection.
  • Lead, develop, promote and support the day-to-day functions of the Access team.
  • Provide high level written and oral advice relating to the work of the Access Services team, including copyright and licensing outcomes.
  • Represent the section and promote relationships with key stakeholders and client groups.

Job Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field, or
  • Extensive experience in providing collection access services, including rights management, preferably in an Australian cultural setting.
  • Demonstrated management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding about the supply processes of audio-visual archive materials to a broad client base for re-use.
  • Utilisation of effective negotiation, influencing and professional written and oral communication skills to confidently articulate and achieve desired outcomes with strong client focus and excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
