Job Description:

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the positions of RRAP Experimental Field and Laboratory Research Technician will provide high quality technical experimental, field and laboratory assistance for research projects in the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program. These positions will undertake a range of work activity tasks including supporting coral breeding and propagation experiments within the AIMS  assisting with the design and preparation of field experiments and participation in field deployment, censusing, data acquisition and analysis. You will also contribute to experimental set-up, maintenance and breakdown, laboratory analyses, data management, project logistical support, and the writing of operating procedures, reports and/or scientific experiments.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience in the organisation, set-up and maintenance of experiments and data collection in aquaria;
  • Ability to work in a large highly collaborative team environment with sound oral and written communication skills; and
  • Experience with coral reef research including organising and undertaking remote, offshore fieldwork in often challenging conditions, including boating and diving activities for field data collection under-taking coral juvenile and adult surveys;
  • Ability to contribute to written reports, operating procedures, and manuscripts in a collaborative setting.
