Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and concise documentation
  • Create and maintain good and current database knowledge in accordance with team policy
  • Work with database team members and key stakeholders to plan and deliver platform changes
  • Use your knowledge of development processes, practices, taking ownership of work
  • Manage service requests and planning priorities
  • Utilise technical skills in the technologies and tools listed above, including an ability to conduct technical research as required and understand Technology directions and industry trends
  • Escalate and manage resolution of major issues with vendor support channel
  • Provide technical advice and support for database services relating to best practice for design, installation, deployment, configuration and, if applicable, hardening activities
  • Make appropriate representation and provide expert advice at meetings with business clients and developers
  • Operate as a Duty Officer to respond appropriately to escalated incidents.

Job Requirements:

  • Contributing to the setting of standards for definition, security and integrity of database objects and ensures conformance to these standards
  • Monitoring database activity and resource usage
  • Optimising database performance plans for forecast resource needs
  • Ability to plan, develop, configure, administer, maintain and support database management systems, specifically Oracle and/or SQL databases – this includes, but is not limited to:
  • Addressing user requirements and ensuring optimal database integrity, security, back up, reliability and performance
  • Drafting and maintaining procedures and documentation for databases
  • Installing and upgrading databases, including patch management
  • Good communication, negotiation and influencing skills, including ability to provide both sound technical and non-technical advice
  • Ability to establish, participate and maintain relationships with vendors and stakeholders
  • Good technical and analytical / troubleshooting skills with the ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and constant technical change, utilising lateral thinking, analysis, design and problem-solving skills
  • IT Service Management knowledge and experience within a database support context
  • Self-motivation, ability to adapt and desire to learn.
